Hatton Labs x Playboy

London based Hatton Labs has teamed up with American lifestyle and media brand Playboy for a limited- edition collection of precious jewellery pieces that are both debonair yet playful. The twenty-eight-piece gender- fluid offering comprises of rings, earrings, chains, and pendants – all retaining Hatton Labs signature edge, whilst riffing on Playboys iconic image of lounge-loving suave. The bijoux pieces are available in sterling silver, 14k and 18k gold. Stones and materials used include: diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, onyx, pink mother of pearl and more.

Joe Gelb of Hatton Labs explains, “Playboy is possibly the best brand of the twentieth Century, being approached to collaborate with them is a huge dream. At the very beginning we definitely had this ‘kid in a candy store’ moment coming up with a million different product ideas. Ultimately, we could only justify doing this if we could create some really special product, something that could stand on its own amongst all the previous Playboy collaborations.”

Hatton Labs co-founders Jack Cannon and Joe Gelb looked to Playboys past for inspiration, citing the brands storied history as a private members club as the starting point for a collection that mines vintage references from the 1950’s and 60’s to deliver a capsule line that nods to the past as it looks forward. Each piece from the collection will be produced in a limited run, this again echoes the era of the 50’s and 60’s, when legend has it The Playboy Club would quietly gift its most loyal members with bespoke jewellery items and specialty objects.

One of the special products in the line is the ‘membership ring’ rendered in 20 different finishes, mixing different metals and stones. It is based on the silhouette of a vintage 9k gold Playboy ring from the 60’s that was apparently gifted to some of their special members and has since become mythologized by fans of the brand. Each of these 20 rings comes with a hand numbered card stating its number within production. Some rings are as limited as only 2 units being produced for that style, with the maximum production run for any style going up to only 44 pieces total.
